Medical Information:

General Health:

We are both in good general health and lead active, balanced lives. We take care of our physical and emotional well-being and feel excited and well prepared for the journey to parenthood.

Fertility Information:

We have 14 frozen embryos that have undergone PGT-A testing, 10 of which are euploid. Our embryos were created with the help of a known donor. We know her personally and are very grateful to her for helping us on our journey to becoming parents.

If our existing embryos did not result in a successful pregnancy and it became necessary to create additional embryos in order to become parents, we would be willing to do so.

Why are you looking for a Surrogate?

Becoming parents has been a deeply held wish for both of us. As a same-sex male couple, surrogacy gives us the opportunity to build our family and experience this journey together from the very beginning.

Tell us about your family & loved ones.

From the very beginning, we involved both of our families in our journey. Their encouragement and support have meant a great deal to us. We are very close to our parents, and it was important for us to know they were fully behind our decision. We also know that their love and support will be invaluable as we grow our family. Our family in Canada has been especially excited and supportive, particularly Marc’s aunt Marina, a retired nurse, who has been a wonderful source of encouragement throughout our journey.

Christian does not have any siblings. Marc's brother Marcel sadly passed away in 2021. We are certain that Marcel would have been proud of us and would have supported us on this journey. ❤️

Our furry child, Lilly, can’t wait to be a ‘big sister’. 🐶

Because we knew this could be a long and uncertain journey, we have so far shared it only with our families and close friends. Everyone has been incredibly supportive, genuinely excited for us, and very interested in learning more about the surrogacy process and the Canadian model. We have chosen to wait until after the first trimester before sharing our news with colleagues and our wider circle of friends.

Would you like to attend appointments with your Surrogate?

We would love to be involved throughout the pregnancy while always respecting our Surrogate's wishes, comfort level and boundaries. We have heard from other intended parents how special it was to be present for the embryo transfer, and we think that would be an unforgettable experience. We would also love to attend important appointments, such as ultrasound scans. Because we live in Germany, we will most likely attend routine prenatal appointments virtually. However, we definitely plan to be in Canada for the birth of our child.

What are your thoughts on termination of a pregnancy due to genetic abnormalities or complications related to the pregnancy?

Our Surrogate's health and well-being would always be our highest priority. If a pregnancy posed a serious risk to her health or life, we would support termination.

We would also consider termination in the event of serious fetal abnormalities or other significant medical complications. We believe these decisions must always be made on an individual basis, taking into account the specific medical circumstances and the advice of the treating specialists.

Before we are matched with a Surrogate, we would want to have an open and honest conversation about these situations. It is very important to us that we share the same expectations and values before beginning this journey together.

If the Surrogate becomes pregnant with multiples, how would you feel? How do you feel about the possibility of selective reduction being recommended due to a multiple pregnancy?

As with all medical decisions, our Surrogate's health and well-being would always be our highest priority. If a selective reduction became medically necessary to protect her health or the pregnancy, we would support that decision.

If there were no medical concerns and our Surrogate was also comfortable carrying twins, we would be delighted to welcome that double blessing into our family. We have carefully considered this possibility and, with our financial stability and the support of our families, we feel confident that we could provide a loving and secure home for twins as well.

Are you vaccinated for Covid-19? Do you have a preference for a Surrogate to have been vaccinated for Covid-19?

Yes, we are both vaccinated against COVID-19. However, we respect that this is a personal decision and do not have a preference regarding our Surrogate's COVID-19 vaccination status.

What kind of relationship do you want to have with your Surrogate during the pregnancy?

We see this as a shared journey and hope to build a relationship based on trust, honesty and mutual respect. Although an ocean separates us, we hope to feel like one team, working towards the same goal.♥️

We see our future Surrogate as a strong, independent woman with her own life, her own family and her own commitments. We deeply respect that and want to be there for her in whatever way feels right for everyone. Whether that means regular WhatsApp messages, phone calls or video chats, we are happy to communicate in whatever way works best for her, depending on the situation.

We believe that this relationship is about more than just the pregnancy. We would enjoy sharing everyday moments as well, getting to know each other and celebrating milestones together.

Because we live in Germany, we cannot promise frequent in-person visits during the pregnancy. However, despite the distance, we hope to be as present as possible before, during and after the pregnancy. Above all, we want our Surrogate to always know how grateful we are for everything she is doing for our family.

Do you want to be in the delivery room when your child is born?

Yes, we would both love to be present for the birth of our child. At the same time, we fully respect our Surrogate's wishes and the guidance of the medical team. We understand that the birth experience should always be centered around our Surrogate's well-being.

If possible, it is very important to us to welcome our child into the world and hold them as soon as possible after birth.
Because our family lives in Ontario, we can be flexible with the unpredictable timing of labour and delivery. This gives us the opportunity to be in Canada well in advance and ready whenever the big day arrives.

What kind of relationship do you hope to have with your Surrogate after the birth of your child?

We hope to stay in touch with our Surrogate for many years after the birth of our child. We would love to share family milestones, such as birthdays, Christmas celebrations and other special moments, and we would also enjoy hearing about her life and family. We hope the relationship will continue naturally and that we can stay connected in a way that feels right for everyone.

Because our family lives in Ontario, we expect to return to Canada regularly. Our child will also have Canadian citizenship and will grow up with strong ties to Canada and their Canadian family. We therefore hope that occasional visits with our Surrogate may be possible over the years, if she would enjoy that too.

As our child grows up, we want them to know the story of how they came into the world. In Germany, some families affectionately use the term "Bauch Mama" ("Belly Mum") for a Surrogate. We would tell our child that she is the wonderful woman who carried them and gave us the greatest gift we could ever receive: the chance to become a family.

At the same time, we completely respect that our Surrogate has her own life and that our relationship may naturally evolve over time. Whatever that relationship looks like, we hope she will always know that she has a special place in our family and in our hearts.

Would you be open to a home birth?

Yes, we would be open to a homebirth if our Surrogate wished for one and the medical professionals involved considered it a safe and appropriate option. The health and safety of our Surrogate and our baby would always be our highest priority.

Are you open to midwifery care?

Yes, we are open to midwifery care if it is medically appropriate and our Surrogate feels comfortable with it. We trust the Canadian healthcare system and the professionals involved to recommend the best model of care for each individual pregnancy. Our priority is that both our Surrogate and our baby receive the safest and most appropriate care throughout the pregnancy and birth.

Would you like your Surrogate to provide breastmilk?

Yes, if our Surrogate would be comfortable with it. We expect to stay in Canada for approximately four to six weeks after the birth while waiting for our baby's passport and travel documents.

If it were possible and practical for our Surrogate to provide breast milk—whether during our time in the hospital or for a period after the birth—we believe it would be a wonderful benefit for our baby. We would be incredibly grateful for such a gift. At the same time, we have absolutely no expectations, and we would completely respect whatever our Surrogate feels is right for her.

What will you tell the child about the Surrogate, and the circumstances of their birth? If the child asks to meet the Surrogate, how will you feel?

From the changing table onwards, we want to tell our child their story in an age-appropriate way. We don't want there to be any secrets. Instead, we want this story to become a natural and cherished part of our family life from the very beginning. We can also imagine having a photo of our Surrogate in our child's nursery, so that she is never a stranger to our child, but always a familiar and cherished part of their story.

We want our child to grow up knowing just how deeply they were wanted and loved. We will tell them that their two dads were able to become parents because two incredibly kind and courageous women in Canada helped make that dream come true. One lovingly carried them during the pregnancy, and the other gave us the precious gift of donating her egg.

As they grow older, we will continue to tell their story in more detail and answer every question openly and honestly. Our hope is that our child will grow up feeling proud of their story, confident in who they are, and knowing that they have always been deeply loved and wanted.

We would be very happy if our child wanted to meet our Surrogate one day to learn more about their roots. If they expressed that wish, we would feel that we had done something right as parents by raising them to be open, curious and proud of their story.

If our child and our Surrogate both wished to meet, we would do everything we could to make that possible. Because our family lives in Ontario, we expect to visit Canada regularly, so we believe that meeting in person would be a realistic possibility if everyone felt comfortable with it.

We never want our child to feel that they have to hide their curiosity or questions. We hope they will always feel comfortable talking openly with us about their story, and we will support them in learning more whenever the time feels right.

At the same time, we completely respect that our Surrogate has her own life and that any future relationship should develop naturally. Our hope is simply that any meeting would be a positive and meaningful experience for everyone involved.

If the transfer is unsuccessful, will you want to try again? If so, how soon after?

We understand that surrogacy is a biological process with many uncertainties. Even when everyone does everything right, not every step will go as hoped. Some things simply cannot be predicted or influenced, and we know that setbacks can be part of this journey.
If a transfer was unsuccessful, we would absolutely want to try again. At the same time, we understand that another transfer represents a significant physical and emotional commitment for our Surrogate. We would face any setback together as a team, supporting one another throughout the process.

Whether and when we would move forward with another transfer would depend on several factors, including the advice of the medical team, our Surrogate's physical and emotional recovery, and, most importantly, her own wishes and readiness.

If this surrogacy journey is successful, would you want to complete a sibling journey? What do you envision that looking like? (timeline, same Surrogate etc.)

At this point in our lives, our greatest wish is to welcome one healthy child into our family. That is where our entire focus is.

While we are not planning for a second child at the moment, we don't want to rule out the possibility completely. We know that becoming parents may change our perspective, and perhaps one day we will feel that our family is not yet complete.

If that day ever comes, and if our Surrogate also wished to help us again, we would of course be honoured to have that conversation. For now, however, we are simply looking forward to becoming dads for the first time.

What are your plans for childcare once the child is born?

We both plan to take parental leave after our child is born. We would like to spend the first weeks together as a family before sharing parental leave equally, so that each of us has the opportunity to spend valuable one-on-one time with our child.

When the time is right, probably between the ages of one and two, we would like our child to attend daycare. We believe it is important for children to spend time with other children from an early age, helping them develop friendships, confidence and social skills.

Marc's parents and other close family members live nearby in Hennigsdorf and are looking forward to being actively involved in our child's life. Christian's parents live further away, but we are very close to them and know that they will also be an important part of our child's life. Their love and flexible support will be a great help as our family grows.

We also feel very fortunate that our child will grow up surrounded by a loving family in both Germany and Canada. Because of our close family ties in Ontario, we expect Canada to be a regular part of our family life from the very beginning.

What does a typical weekend look like for you?

Our weekends usually start quite early—at least for Christian. After a cuddle with Lilly and the first cup of coffee, Christian often enjoys doing the ironing while Marc gets to sleep a little longer. Once Marc is awake, we all head out together for a long walk with Lilly along the River Havel, enjoying the fresh air and nature.

Afterwards, we prepare breakfast together, usually something like omelettes and bacon, which we love eating outside on our terrace whenever the weather allows. Before we relax, we usually take care of the housework. We both like having everything tidy before enjoying the rest of the weekend.

The rest of the weekend often includes bike rides, visiting our family, relaxing in our garden or swimming in Marc’s parents’ pool during the summer. In the evenings, we enjoy going out for dinner with family or friends, especially to Italian or German restaurants.

Our greatest little luxury is taking an afternoon nap together with Lilly. More than anything else, though, weekends are about spending quality time with the people we love—whether that's over coffee and cake, at a Christmas market, or simply enjoying each other's company.

What are some of your interests/ activities?

Marc loves being outdoors and especially enjoys cycling. One of his favourite adventures was a 250 km bike tour through Brandenburg in spring 2026, with Lilly travelling along in her basket while everything around them was starting to bloom. He also enjoys nature-focused holidays, preferably with Lilly nearby and a good psychological thriller to read. At home, he keeps trying to teach Lilly new tricks—with very limited success, as she usually prefers sleeping. Marc also loves German Schlager music, from the 1970s right through to today's songs.

Christian enjoys discovering traditional and iconic restaurants in Berlin and, whenever time allows, working in our garden. He genuinely enjoys weeding and taking care of our hydrangeas. He also keeps trying to introduce Marc to culinary specialities from his home region, the Palatinate—with mixed success. Marc, for example, remains firmly opposed to sauerkraut. Christian also has a perhaps slightly unusual fondness for keeping our household budget organized.

Together, we enjoy being outdoors, exploring new places and spending time with our family. We are also both very interested in politics and current affairs and enjoy discussing what is happening in Germany and around the world.

Fun Facts:

Our dog Lilly, a sand-coloured Havanese is our darling dog! She is adventurous and curious, although she usually prefers to observe new things from a safe distance first before deciding whether to join in. Her nickname is “Mausebärchen” (roughly “little mouse-bear”), and she is very much part of our family. As you may have noticed, she has already made quite a few appearances throughout this profile!

Like Garfield, we both love cooking and eating lasagna. Marc is also a big fan of German sausages, while Christian definitely has a sweet tooth and has been known to make an entire bar of chocolate disappear at impressive speed.

We have very different eating styles. Marc often arrives at the table a little late, which can drive Christian crazy. Once he gets there, however, he is a true food lover who eats very slowly and enjoys every bite. He even likes to eat the different components of a meal separately so he can appreciate each flavour on its own.

Food has actually been part of our story from the very beginning: our first date was over Schnitzel and beer.

If you haven't noticed by now, we are both a little nerdy – just in very different ways.
Christian loves history, historical novels and watching Bridgerton. The problem is that he can fall asleep on the sofa within about two minutes. This may also explain why he is usually wide awake so early in the morning. As you already know, he genuinely enjoys ironing at 7 a.m. on a Saturday – and quite often calls his mum while doing it. She lives about 700 km away, but happens to enjoy ironing too, so their Saturday-morning ironing calls have become a little ritual of their own.

Marc, on the other hand, loves giving Christian little riddles to solve and hiding little love notes on Post-its around the house for him to find. He is also the one who will happily start a conversation with just about every neighbour. He seems to know everyone and even remembers the birthdays of all the children in our neighbourhood.
So yes, we are probably a little nerdy – but we have learned to embrace it.

“We wanted to give you an authentic picture of our little family throughout this questionnaire, and we hope you have been able to get to know us a little better.

Our story began on a dating app and, after our first phone call, we met for our first date. Christian missed his train, so Marc waited outside the restaurant for 20 minutes in the snow—with his jacket deliberately left open because he thought it looked cooler that way. Once inside, Marc talked so much that the waiter had to come back several times just to take our drink order. Somehow, despite—or perhaps because of—all of that, it was love at first sight.

In February 2026, after asking Christian's parents for their blessing, Marc proposed in front of our family and on October 10, 2026, we will get married. We hope this questionnaire has given you a genuine sense of who we are—not only as future dads, but simply as Christian and Marc.”
