Why are you looking for a Surrogate?

We are a gay couple and have always wanted to have our own genetically related children.

Tell us about your family & loved ones.

Our parents, siblings, friends and co-workers are all 100% supportive of our surrogacy journey.

Would you like to attend appointments with your Surrogate?

We are thinking we would like to be present at the gender reveal appointment and any other appointments that we and the Surrogate feel are important.

What are your thoughts on termination of a pregnancy due to genetic abnormalities or complications related to the pregnancy?

We think it may well be appropriate to terminate in cases of genetic abnormalities or complications related to the pregnancy.

If the Surrogate becomes pregnant with multiples, how would you feel? How do you feel about the possibility of selective reduction being recommended due to a multiple pregnancy?

We would be open to multiples, however if selective reduction was recommended we would probably comply with the professional advice given.

Are you vaccinated for Covid-19? Do you have a preference for a Surrogate to have been vaccinated for Covid-19?

We are both vaccinated for Covid-19. We do not have a preference on the Surrogate’s vaccination status.

What kind of relationship do you want to have with your Surrogate during the pregnancy?

We imagine having regular contact with the Surrogate during the pregnancy. Perhaps weekly Zoom calls, but we are happy to have more or less according to how we and the Surrogate feel about it, and what is happening at the time. WhatsApp messages are good too!

Do you want to be in the delivery room when your child is born?

Ideally yes!

What kind of relationship do you hope to have with your Surrogate after the birth of your child?

We anticipate building a bond with the Surrogate and staying in touch after the birth with regular updates.

Would you be open to a home birth?

Yes, provided that emergency hospital care was nearby.

Are you open to midwifery care?

Yes.

Would you like your Surrogate to provide breastmilk?
Ideally, yes.

What will you tell the child about the Surrogate, and the circumstances of their birth? If your child asks to meet the Surrogate, how will you feel?

No secrets, and telling them as early as appropriate, as soon as they will be able to understand. We will be more than happy to have the child meet the Surrogate.

If the transfer is unsuccessful, will you want to try again? If so, how soon after?

Yes, as soon as possible.

If this surrogacy journey is successful, would you want to complete a sibling journey? What do you envision that looking like? (timeline, same Surrogate etc.)

Yes, we think maybe a 1-2 year gap between each sibling would be good, if it works out that way!

What are your plans for childcare once the child is born?

We both are mostly home-based and do not expect to need much childcare.

What does a typical weekend look like for you?

Relaxing in our country house it the mountains, looking after our 3 dogs, 1 cat and (countless!) chickens. Going for hikes in the forest behind our home, or driving 10 minutes to be beautiful beaches nearby. Meeting friends and family.

What are some of your interests/ activities?

Relaxing at home, hiking in the forest/mountains behind our home, rollerblading on the seafront, meeting friends and family, going to the garden centre.
Howie enjoys writing and listening to music, snowboarding and skiing (1.5 hours drive away in the Spanish Pyrenees or longer trips to the amazing French alps)
Luke enjoys working in the orchard, growing fruit and vegetables organically and permaculture, looking after all the animals and Beyonce!

Other information:

We have 3 dogs - Sam, Khali and Freya and 1 cat - Bindy. We also have countless chickens! Special talents, Howie is a songwriter and designer and Luke an expert on flora and fauna and all things nature whose advice everyone seeks.

“Hi, very nice to meet you! We are Howie and Luke, we are both British but we live in Spain, in the mountains on the outskirts of Barcelona province. We have been together for 5 years, and got married last month in a beautiful winery near our home. (Photos and videos of the wedding to follow, as soon as we get them!) The wedding was amazing and we feel so lucky and grateful for so many lovely family and friends being able to join us from near and far to help us celebrate. We live with our 3 dogs and a cat (and countless chickens!) in an old farmhouse which we are the process of renovating to make ready for our intended new human family together! (Ok so we don’t actually live with the chickens, they live outside on the land!) We grow our own fruit and vegetables and are surrounded by pine tree forests and beautiful countryside...and only a 10 minute drive to the lovely beaches and beautiful cosmopolitan towns like Sitges and of course Barcelona itself is only 30 minutes away. We are really excited about the next steps of our journey towards having children and are already totally in awe of the amazing Surrogate who will be a huge part of this wonderful journey together!”
