Hello to our wonderful future Surrogate, it’s lovely to meet you!

We hope this message finds you well. As we start this journey together, we wanted to share a bit more about ourselves, our interests, and the things that bring us joy. We are Howie and Luke, we are both British but we live in Spain, in the mountains on the outskirts of Barcelona province. We have been together for 5 years, and got married this past September in a beautiful winery near our home. The wedding was amazing and we feel so lucky and grateful for so many lovely family and friends being able to join us from near and far to help us celebrate.

Howie is from London UK originally and has been in Spain since 2014.  He came to beautiful nearby Sitges, and fell in love with a run-down historic property that needed his eye for design and detail to restore.  We now run it as a holiday rentals home, and we also make the most of it for celebrations and get-togethers of our family and friends. Howie has a strong passion for writing music, finding creativity in the songs he writes.

Luke’s family moved to Spain when he was a toddler, so he is tri-lingual in English, Spanish and Catalan (…and Howie is brushing up on his Spanish and Catalan so he will be able to understand what the rest of the new family will be saying around him!).  Luke trained as a veterinary technician and had his own successful dog-walking business before we moved out into the nearby countryside.  He is so knowledgeable and dedicated to nature and animals, having been fascinated by both at a very early age (shortly followed by a slight obsession with Beyoncé which remains to this day!)

We live with our beloved 3 dogs and a rescue cat (and countless chickens!) in an old farmhouse which we’re in the process of finishing renovations in a sustainable way to make ready for our intended new human family together.  (Ok so we don’t actually live with the chickens, they live outside on the land!)

Our house is on the edge of a protected national park, and we love hiking there with the dogs, there are hours of paths to walk, being able to explore nature right on our doorstep.

Luke’s deepest passion lies in gardening. Upon moving into our farmhouse, he took on the challenge of transforming a corner of our very overgrown garden into a completely organic and productive veggie garden and orchard, with rows of fruit trees and olive trees among rows of vegetable beds. Planting and harvesting fruit and vegetables each season is supplemented by preserving, dehydrating and pickling our extra produce for use in the winter months.

Luke is also a devoted caretaker of our chickens, spending time each day tending to their needs. The chickens have become a fun and entertaining part of our garden, adding character to our homestead as well as producing delicious eggs.

Beyond our individual passions, we love walking along the seafront promenade of the nearby town of Sitges with the dogs. It’s a routine we look forward to, and we can already picture continuing this tradition with our future children.

As soon as we met, we both knew it was meant to be, and that we had both always shared the dream of having children in a very special loving relationship.  We have been renovating our farmhouse specifically to suit our intended family and we can’t wait for all our dreams and envisioning to come to fruition.

On a family note, Luke’s parents, grandmother, and sister live in the town next to ours, just a short 10-minute drive away. Our friends are spread out in the nearby towns, also no more than 15 minutes away from our home. Their excitement for the arrival of our children is palpable, and we’re so fortunate to have such a supportive and loving network close by.

Our life in the countryside is complemented by the proximity of a great local school, a 15-minute walk through a forested path from our home. The idea of us walking our children along that path, surrounded by nature, to go to school is one that we really look forward to.

We both have such a good feeling about our Surrogate being in Canada, it is a special place for Howie having been there many times for travelling and for snowboarding and skiing; and we have only had lovely dealings with all the Canadians we have met in person and via Zoom, it’s already been a lovely journey so far.

We are really excited about the next steps of our journey towards having children and are already totally in awe of the amazing Surrogate who will be a huge part of this wonderful journey together.

As we embark on this incredible journey, we want you to know that we are open to as much communication as you are comfortable with.

For us, building a relationship with you is so special, after all you will be helping us grow our family, a huge undertaking that we don’t take for granted at all. We imagine forming a close bond with you and being totally supportive of you, as well as sharing the fun and excitement along the way.

We already have 6 fertilized and PGT-A tested embryos at Victory Reproductive Care in

Ontario.

Thank you so much for considering joining us on this journey to create our family. We are really looking forward to beginning this chapter and to sharing these wonderful experiences with you. We just can’t wait!  And we are excited to get to know you!

All the very best,

Howie and Luke
