Why are you looking for a Surrogate?
Due to Ying’s genetic syndrome, she does not produce eggs and is unable to carry a pregnancy. Surrogacy will allow Ying and Ping to become parents, a dream they never imagined possible.
Tell us about your family & loved ones.
Our family and friends are all very supportive of our decision to become parents through surrogacy. They are looking forward to meeting our baby and seeing us as parents.
Would you like to attend appointments with your Surrogate?
If our Surrogate is willing, Ying would love to attend appointments with her. Ying would like to be present for any ultrasound appointments.
What are your thoughts on termination of a pregnancy due to genetic abnormalities or complications related to the pregnancy?
If there are medical and physical problems and the doctor recommends terminating the pregnancy, we will take their advice.
If the Surrogate becomes pregnant with multiples, how would you feel? How do you feel about the possibility of selective reduction being recommended due to a multiple pregnancy?
We would be happy to have multiples! However, if it puts the Surrogate at risk, and the doctor recommends reduction, we will do so. Putting people first, and health and safety of the Surrogate our the top priority.
Are you vaccinated for Covid-19? Do you have a preference for a Surrogate to have been vaccinated for Covid-19?
We have been vaccinated against COVID-19, and we are happy to work with a Surrogate with or without the vaccine.
What kind of relationship do you want to have with your Surrogate during the pregnancy?
During the pregnancy, we hope to have a friendship with our Surrogate. If it naturally progresses, we would be happy to see the relationship as an extended member of our family.
Do you want to be in the delivery room when your child is born?
Yes.
What kind of relationship do you hope to have with your Surrogate after the birth of your child?
If she is willing, we would like to maintain the relationship as friends.
Would you be open to a home birth?
We feel it is best to give birth at a hospital. If an accident or something unforeseen occurs, we would like to have medical devices and care readily available. Health and safety are our top priority.
Are you open to midwifery care?
We are open to midwifery or obstetric care.
Would you like your Surrogate to provide breastmilk?
No, we would not ask that of the Surrogate.
What will you tell the child about the Surrogate, and the circumstances of their birth? If your child asks to meet the Surrogate, how will you feel?
We will be honest with our child and tell them they were born through surrogacy. We will let them know the hardships we had to face, and the grace and kindness of the wonderful woman who chose to be our Surrogate. We feel it would be normal of the child to ask to meet the Surrogate. Afterall, she was the one who gave birth to our child and endured a pregnancy to make that happen- something we will always be grateful for.
If the transfer is unsuccessful, will you want to try again? If so, how soon after?
Yes, the sooner the better so long as the Surrogate’s health allows.
If this surrogacy journey is successful, would you want to complete a sibling journey? What do you envision that looking like? (timeline, same Surrogate etc.)
We would love to have a sibling if the Surrogate is willing. Ideally, the sooner the better but we are very understanding and willing to work with the Surrogate’s ideal timeline.
What are your plans for childcare once the child is born?
Ying will happily be a stay-at-home parent. We want to take good care of our child, and watch them grow up healthily, safely and happily.
What does a typical weekend look like for you?
Weekends are our break from a busy work week. We enjoy taking some time on the weekends to do some shopping, take a walk in nature or by the lake. We find breathing in fresh air and appreciating the beauty of nature helps us reduce stress and really relax. We also enjoy visiting nearby cities and local attractions. We like learning the history and culture of the various cities and towns around us. When we are at home we enjoy inviting our friends and family over while we cook together. We love trying new foods!
What are some of your interests/ activities?
We enjoy going shopping, eating delicious food, going to the park and local travels. There are so many beautiful spots in Ontario to visit!
“We are a friendly, kind and honest couple. Due to my own shortcomings and our English language skills, we know there will be obstacles to overcome. However, we really need your help, and we will fully support you.”
