Dear Surrogate,

Thank you for giving our letter a moment of your day. We may not know you yet, but just the fact that you’re considering this path already makes you incredibly special to us. Life is a gift and the thought that you might offer your strength, care, and time to help us grow a family is something words can’t easily capture. So, to start, we’re simply and sincerely grateful for the possibility of sharing this life-changing journey with you!

A few words about us: we’re Dani (35) and Louis (30), an Austrian-French couple living in Brussels. We got married last summer after five wonderful years together, and now — surrounded by a big, lively family full of babies and puppies — we’re pursuing our dream of having children of our own.

Our relationship began just before the pandemic, which brought us close very quickly. Living through the challenges of the past few years has taught us to focus on what truly matters: love, family, and raising the next generation with kindness, confidence, and the security of a caring home.

As a same-sex couple, surrogacy is our only path to having a biological child. But for us, it’s about more than genetics, which is why we chose Canada as the place to seek surrogacy. The possibility of building a respectful, heartfelt bond with you — if that’s something you’d like too — makes this journey feel all the more human and full of grace.

We both work in public service — Dani for the European Union and Louis in a political party focused on democracy and human rights. We feel lucky to be doing work that reflects what we care about: fairness, freedom, and helping build a better world. And those are the same values we hope to pass on to our child.

Outside of work, we’re pretty down-to-earth. Dani loves books and old things with stories — antiques, paintings, and cozy cafés. Louis is the movie geek, with a soft spot for trivia nights and documentary deep-dives. We love discovering markets, cooking together, and visiting family in Paris and Vienna. Honestly, some of our best moments are just laughing with friends around a table, playing board games, watching Eurovision, or following an election night (and in Europe we have many of those!).

Family means the world to us. We’re lucky that they’re only a short flight or train ride away, and we spend holidays and summers together whenever we can — in the countryside, by the sea, or just gathered in a kitchen somewhere. Everyone is incredibly supportive of our surrogacy journey and excited to welcome a new little person into the family. Louis’s niece, Iris, is already looking forward to playing with a possible future cousin!

As your Intended Parents, we want you to feel supported and never alone in this. Whether that means regular check-ins, help figuring things out — or just being there in person when needed — we’ll be by your side in whatever way feels right for you. Our home in Brussels will of course always be open to you and we will be honoured to welcome you in our future lives.

We imagine telling our child one day about the amazing woman who carried them into the world — and doing so with deep gratitude and honesty. We know this is a big decision, and we don’t take it lightly. But if something in this letter resonates with you, we’d truly love to connect — to hear your story, your hopes, and your reasons for choosing this extraordinary path.

With heartfelt thanks,

Dani & Louis
