Dear Surrogate,
We can’t begin this letter without first expressing our deepest gratitude. If you’re reading this, it means you’ve taken a moment to learn more about us, and for that, we are incredibly thankful.
We’re Josep and Roberto, 41 and 36 years old, and we’ve been together since 2016. We married in June 2023 and live in Barcelona, where Josep works at an online university and Roberto at an online pharmacy. We share a love for traveling—discovering new places together is one of our greatest joys—and also for music, especially Lana Del Rey, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift.
Josep loves horror movies and stays active with daily workouts, while Roberto has a passion for languages (he speaks Spanish, English, and French fluently) and family history—he’s been building our family tree for over a decade and has traced more than 12,000 relatives. Above all, we treasure spending time with our families, whether it’s with Josep’s parents in Barcelona or Roberto’s family in Salamanca, where we adore visiting Olivia, our one-year-old niece.
We met on Tinder—pretty common these days—but what wasn’t common was how special that first date was. We talked for hours about everything: our lives, dreams, and hopes for the future. It felt like we had known each other forever, and from that moment on, we’ve been inseparable. A year later, we moved in together, and since then, we’ve built a life full of love, laughter, and shared dreams.
One of those dreams has always been to grow our family. When exploring how to make that dream a reality, we were drawn to the altruistic surrogacy model in Canada. We admire how respectful and thoughtful this model is toward surrogates, and we believe it aligns perfectly with the values we hope to pass on to our future child: effort, equality, and respect for others.
As a couple, we see ourselves as happy and positive people who love to enjoy life. While we are hardworking and grounded, we cherish spending time with loved ones and believe in making space for joy, laughter, and meaningful moments. We don’t think life should be about enduring unnecessary hardships, but rather about building a fulfilling life through connection, gratitude, and care.
To us, the greatest gift we could give our child is a life filled with love, care, and the knowledge of how they came into this world through an act of kindness and generosity. We are simply in awe of the courage and generosity it takes to embark on this journey. Without someone like you, our dream of becoming parents wouldn’t be possible.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for considering this extraordinary act of love and selflessness. We hope this letter gives you a glimpse of who we are, and we’d be honored to share more if you’d like to know us better.
With gratitude and hope,
Josep & Roberto
