Dear Future Surrogate,
Hi! We’re Marco and Paul, and we are so excited to share a bit about ourselves and our journey toward becoming parents. Building a family has always been a dream for both of us, and after considering different paths, we feel that surrogacy is the perfect way to make that dream come true.
To start, a little about us. Paul is originally from the UK and also has Canadian citizenship through his mother, who was born in Ottawa. Marco, on the other hand, is from Italy. We’ve both been living and working in The Netherlands for over ten years now, so our home in Amsterdam has an international flavor that we love. We actually met in Amsterdam through a mutual friend, and after several chance encounters, Marco invited Paul to a gin and tonic tasting on a train. That special night marked the beginning of our journey together, and four wonderful years later, we’re still on this amazing adventure.
Our relationship truly deepened during the COVID lockdowns, when we were isolated together and really got to know each other on a deeper level. It worked out so well that we decided to take the next step by buying a house together in Amsterdam, where we’ve been happily settled for the last three years. Our home wouldn’t be complete without Paul’s two cats, who have become a much-loved part of our family (even though Marco wasn’t a cat person at first, they’re inseparable now!).
While the cats bring plenty of joy and comfort, we’ve always felt that having a baby would be the final piece of the puzzle, bringing our family full circle. We spent a lot of time thinking through different options, speaking to people, and eventually decided that surrogacy in Canada felt right for us. The altruistic nature of surrogacy in Canada aligns with our values, and it’s comforting to know that this journey is built on mutual trust and generosity.
When we’re not dreaming about our future family, we love cooking together and hosting friends for dinner parties. Marco’s Italian roots shine in the kitchen, and Paul has fun trying to keep up by learning traditional recipes. Good food and great conversations are what bring us closer to the people we love, and we’re fortunate to have built a strong network of friends here in The Netherlands. Family and friends mean everything to us, and we can’t wait to share this love with a child.
Travel is another passion we share. We frequently visit Italy and the UK to spend time with family, but we also love exploring new places together. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a more extended trip, we find so much joy in discovering new cultures and experiences. One of our recent highlights was a trip to Japan, and we’ve also been to Cuba and, of course, Canada. Wherever we go, we always bring back memories and stories we look forward to sharing with our future child.
We’re both active and love staying fit, whether it’s going for a run in the park or heading to the gym. Music is also a big part of our lives—Paul is learning to play the violin, and Marco enjoys playing guitar and singing. And as much as we enjoy our hobbies and social life, we also treasure quiet nights at home, snuggled up with a takeaway, our cats, and a good TV show. These cozy moments are what we envision sharing as a family one day.
Becoming parents has been a shared dream from very early in our relationship. Paul comes from a big family with four siblings, while Marco has two sisters. Between being uncles and seeing many of our friends become parents, we’ve had a close view of the challenges and joys that come with raising children. We feel ready to embrace those challenges and give a child all the love and support we have to offer.
We can already imagine what life will look like as dads. Paul is excited to see Marco in action as a father—he has such a warm, loving side, but also a strength and determination that will help guide our child through any challenges they might face. Marco, on the other hand, is looking forward to watching Paul share his creativity and quirky humor, knowing that these qualities will bring so much joy and imagination into our child’s life.
We chose surrogacy in Canada not only because of the supportive laws and excellent healthcare but also because it felt like the right place given Paul’s family connection to the country. It’s important to us that our child understands their origins, which is why we’ve also chosen a known egg donor. We’re looking for a Surrogate who shares our values and would like to be a part of this incredible journey with us, staying connected even after the birth.
Although we live in The Netherlands, we are committed to staying closely involved throughout the entire process, providing support every step of the way. Your kindness and generosity in helping us create a family would mean the world to us.
If you’re reading this and feel that you’d like to be part of our journey, we would love to meet you. The gift you’re offering is extraordinary, and we promise to support, respect, and cherish you throughout this life-changing experience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. We hope to meet you soon!
With love and gratitude,
Marco & Paul
